Instagram engagement rate calculator

Add up the likes and comments on your last few posts, put the totals in below, and you'll see your average engagement rate. Nothing is sent anywhere.

How the number is worked out

Engagement rate here is the average number of interactions per post divided by your follower count. So if 10 posts got 2,300 likes and 140 comments between them, that's 244 interactions per post. With 4,800 followers, the rate is a little over 5%.

What counts as good

It depends heavily on size. Small accounts usually see higher rates because a bigger share of their followers are friends and regulars. As an account grows, the rate drops even when the content gets better. The calculator compares you against the typical range for your follower band, which is fairer than one number for everyone.

Raising it

Post when your followers are online, ask a real question in the caption, and reply to the first few comments quickly. Early activity on a post tells Instagram to show it to more people. A free batch of likes right after posting gives that early push a head start.
